Vice President, Membership and Strategic Partnerships

Job Description

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Vice President of Membership and Strategic Partnerships is responsible for developing and managing TechNet’s membership.  The ideal candidate will have experience working in a membership and or sales-based environment, event management experience, first-rate written and oral communication skills, be exceptionally organized, and detail-oriented.  The position reports to the President and CEO.  Salary is commensurate with experience.  Duties will include:

Membership Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with member companies
  • Coordinate conference calls for each member and appropriate staff
  • Oversee updating of membership materials
  • Plan and execute meetings and events with companies and policymakers

Prospecting Management

  • Work with full team on identifying prospective members, make presentations with CEO and participating staff, and schedule meetings outside of Washington, D.C.
  • Coordinate research on prospects in Washington, D.C., and around the country
  • Coordinate all prospecting trips around the country
  • Lead discussion and vetting of new prospects as a part of weekly staff calls
  • Manage prospect outreach activities for CEO, regional executive directors, and other team members
  • Coordinate all follow-up to prospective members

Programs, Events and Strategic Partnerships

  • Oversee the development and execution of national and special events, including logistics, program, briefing materials, and other elements
  • Develop and manage event sponsorships in coordination with other TechNet team members
  • Represent TechNet at industry and other events
  • Build and leverage strategic partnerships with stakeholder organizations that enhance TechNet’s overall mission and advocacy objectives

Executive Council (EC) Management

  • Act as liaison to the EC member representatives and staff
  • Coordinate calendars to set EC meeting dates
  • Coordinate EC meeting details
  • Work with EC staff to coordinate outreach to prospects

General Responsibilities

  • Work with CFO on invoicing for new and current members
  • Work with CFO to pinpoint at-risk members and conduct outreach to secure membership
  • Work with CFO to follow up on all delinquent invoices
  • Track current members’ annual revenues for proper invoicing
  • Work with Director of Communications on members’ visibility on website (logos, headshots, bios)
  • Work with Director of Communications to keep website content updated and current
  • Oversee (with appropriate staff) all member correspondence for CEO – renewal letters, thank you letters, exit letters, welcome letters
  • Organize new member on-boarding with TechNet staff via phone or meeting


  • Professional education at a Bachelor’s level or professional equivalent
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, membership, and other groups
  • Event management experience
  • Excellent writing, organization, and time management skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Salesforce
  • Knowledge of technology issues a plus
  • Association experience a plus, but not required
