In this role, she has transformed the culture and the business model of the company—advancing it from a traditional marketing agency and cultivating it into a dynamic marketing technology company. Before becoming president of the Houston, TX-based GS Marketing in 2014, Shelley held multiple leadership positions during her 14 years with the company, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and the Vice President of Account Services. Under her leadership, in 2018 GSM earned the Houston Chronicles’ “Top 150 Workplaces” Award.

Shelley has diverse automotive experience, including sales leadership, marketing, strategy, process re-engineering and strategic account management. She began her career with Ford Motor Company in the Atlanta and Dallas Regional offices. From there, her experience expanded into the retail automotive arena. She worked in sales for Lincoln-Mercury, as well as service and F&I. In 1998, she joined MSX International where she led a dealer process improvement consulting team. Shelley joined Gulf States Toyota in 2001 where she held field positions in both New Orleans and Houston.

Shelley possesses a passion for mentoring women and encouraging their professional growth. In the past, she was the founding member and former president of the Dallas Chapter of the Automotive Women’s Network. In 2019, Shelley was awarded the “Women Who Mean Business” award by the Houston Business Journal and in 2015, she was named one of the Top 20 Business Women in Houston by the National Women’s Council.

Giving back to the community is an equally important passion to her. She now sits on the Executive Board and Marketing Committee Chair of Child Advocates of Houston. Shelley is also a leader of the United Way Women’s Initiative of the Friedkin Companies and in 2018 was the Executive Sponsor of the Friedkin Company’s Companies’ Elevate Group. Their mission was to create collaborative learning opportunities to educate and inspire women in business to become outstanding leaders.

In 2019, Shelley was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to sit on the board of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. The TXDMV is an agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of the motor vehicle-related industries in Texas. Her varied expertise in the automotive, marketing and tech industries enables her to provide insight and industry knowledge to the TXDMV Board and Staff.
