Jamie Siminoff is the Founder and Chief Inventor of Ring. A lifelong inventor, Jamie created the world’s first Wi-Fi video doorbell in his garage with two employees in 2013. He has since transformed a small operation into what’s now known as Ring, a security powerhouse that offers several DIY home security products, including the most recognized video doorbell on the market, capable of stopping burglars in their tracks. Although much has changed at Ring since its inception, it is the mission of reducing neighborhood crime that continues to drive Jamie and everything and everyone at Ring. In fact, Ring and the LAPD partnered to install Ring Video Doorbells in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Wilshire Park; after six months, home burglaries were reduced by 55% compared to the surrounding neighborhoods.
Intensely dedicated not only to the Ring mission, but also to his customers, Jamie has flown out to personally help customers troubleshoot and install their units dozens of times. Jamie also opened up Ring’s own customer support center in Scottsdale, Arizona to ensure all users have a positive experience with the company’s products. Further underlining the importance Jamie places on customer relations, his personal email address is included on the box of every Ring product, so customers can easily reach him with questions and comments.
A loyal and trusting leader, Jamie gives an incredible amount of power and autonomy to his leadership team: there’s no formal management structure at Ring, no departmental budgets or regular management meetings. This way, everyone can stay focused on what’s most important: the company mission of making neighborhoods everywhere safer; and worry less about meeting numbers or performance requirements.
Under Jamie’s direction, Ring has seen incredible success and growth: Ring has raised more than $200 million from investors like Richard Branson, Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, Goldman Sachs Investment Partners and DFJ; the company is more than 1,000 team members strong; more than 1 million customers trust Ring to protect their homes; the large majority of video doorbells sold globally in 2016 were Ring Doorbells; half a billion Ring “Moments” (doorbell dings/motion recordings) happen every month.
Jamie not only created this market, but continues to innovate and improve it, keeping Ring at the bleeding edge of home security. He holds his Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship from Babson College. When he’s not working, Jamie enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and dogs – Short Rib and Pancake.
