Michael Young serves as Vice President of Global Government Affairs and Public Policy at Dell Technologies. With twenty years of government affairs and public policy experience, Michael oversees Dell’s government affairs practice across the globe and represents Dell in key policy organizations. Michael joined Dell in 2003 to build the company’s federal government affairs program and manage the Dell Employee Political Action Committee. In 2004, he moved to Dell’s global corporate headquarters in Round Rock, Texas, and launched the State and Local Government Affairs program to build the company’s profile, advocate for public policy and expand sales opportunities in various state capitals. He then served as head of Dell’s U.S. Federal and State Government Affairs team, where he managed all of Dell’s policy, government sales and political initiatives. He also established and managed Dell’s government affairs practice in Latin America. In 2013, he assumed leadership of the global organization.
Prior to joining Dell, Michael served as Legislative Director for Congressman Lamar Smith (TX-21), where he oversaw the office’s legislative, communications and administration functions and addressed technology, judiciary, science, energy and defense issues. Originally from Dallas, Michael received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science and History from Texas Tech University. He enjoys snow skiing, FPS and 4X gaming and is an avid reader of history related books. He and his wife and their three children reside in Austin.
