Tech Leaders to Promote Path to U.S. Global Innovation Leadership as part of TechNet Day 2019
18 CEOs and senior executives to participate in high-level meetings with lawmakers
Washington, D.C. — Technology CEOs and senior executives representing all parts of the innovation ecosystem will travel to Washington, D.C., on Thursday, April 4, for a series of meetings with the Trump Administration and Congressional leaders in both parties as part of the 18th annual TechNet Day. Tech leaders will call on federal policymakers to prioritize policies that support the technology industry's efforts to create jobs and drive innovation.
The tech industry employs over 11.5 million Americans and contributes $1.6 trillion to the economy. Policy decisions before Congress and the Administration that impact this job creation, business growth, and economic opportunity are more important than ever to supporting U.S. leadership in innovation.
"During TechNet Day, we look forward to meeting with policymakers to discuss the importance of policies that enable U.S. global innovation leadership. American ingenuity has led the tech industry to employ millions and played a critical role in driving the U.S. economy. In order for this trend to continue, lawmakers must come together to advance a pro-growth innovation agenda," said Linda Moore, President and CEO of TechNet. "We are at an important junction on USMCA, trade negotiations with China, privacy, fostering a workforce ready for jobs of the future, and encouraging would-be entrepreneurs and high-skilled workers from around the world to choose the U.S. to start a business. A strong innovation agenda is vital to the economy, and each of these policies will impact U.S. innovation leadership on the global stage."
