Washington, D.C. — Ahead of the meeting between President Trump and Chinese President Xi on Saturday at the G20 Summit, TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore issued the following statement:

“We hope Saturday’s meeting will lead to renewed negotiations and meaningful progress towards ending this costly trade war. Over the past year, these tariffs have resulted in higher prices for consumers, disrupted supply chains for businesses of all sizes, and left fewer resources for companies to invest in R&D. Raising the stakes with another $300 billion in new tariffs — as the latest Trump Administration proposal would do — will only add to the pain.

“This meeting presents an opportunity for a reset. We strongly urge President Trump and President Xi to work in good faith and find a way to resolve this conflict and end the tariffs.”
