TechNet Statement on President Biden’s First Address to a Joint Session of Congress

Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today issued the following statement in advance of President Biden’s first address to a joint session of Congress, which can be attributed to TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore:

“Tonight, the President will showcase the important role technology plays in solving the many challenges our country faces. We’ve already seen how tech has powered America during the pandemic and facilitated the administration’s highly effective vaccine distribution program, helping nearly 150 million Americans get vaccinated. President Biden also deserves tremendous credit for boosting our economy with the American Rescue Plan.

“Technology will continue to serve as a catalyst for economic growth. Expanding broadband will create opportunities for millions of Americans and businesses. Electric vehicles and smart grid technologies will improve our infrastructure while creating cleaner, safer, and more efficient communities. Immigration reform will attract the world’s best talent, spur innovation, and help America compete globally.

“We applaud the President for investing in the future of the American economy. Investments in emerging tech, research and development, the U.S. workforce, and infrastructure will lead to new technologies and innovation, job creation, economic growth, and the strengthening of American global leadership. We remain hopeful that these are priorities both parties can agree are needed to rebuild our economy.”
