Washington, D.C. — TechNet, the bipartisan policy and
political network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, released
the following statement in advance of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and the
National Interest’s hearing on “The Impact of High-Skilled Immigration on U.S.
Workers.”

“TechNet believes that high-skilled
immigration reform legislation should support the growth of America’s
innovation economy and provide American employers, research institutions, and
universities access to the world’s top talent, whether they are educated in the
United States or overseas,”
said Linda Moore, president and CEO of TechNet.

“While many of the Administration’s
executive actions have created a path forward on certain immigration policies,
only Congress can provide thorough, permanent high-skilled immigration
reform. Raising the H-1B visa cap and
increasing the number of green cards available for employment-based immigration
are two critical actions that would strengthen our nation’s global economic
competitiveness and promote future job creation in the United States. We encourage the Subcommittee to lead a
substantive discussion on these issues so that Congress can find a path forward
on reform legislation that will allow more high-skilled workers to stay,
innovate, and create jobs here in the United States.”
