Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, strongly supports the Endless Frontier Act, which was reintroduced today in the U.S Senate by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Todd Young (R-IN) and in the U.S. House of Representatives by Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Mike Gallagher (R-WI). The Endless Frontier Act would provide much-needed, and long overdue, investment in technology, entrepreneurship, science, and research and development that will boost the U.S. economy and American global competitiveness. The following statement can be attributed to TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore:

“For a century, the United States has been the global leader in innovation. However, over the past decade, U.S. investment in research and development, manufacturing, and workforce development has slowed. At the same time, foreign competitors are attempting to dominate the technology of tomorrow by deploying significant resources, engaging in anti-competitive practices, like IP theft, and exerting influence beyond their borders. To bolster our national and economic security, we need a national strategy to ensure emerging technologies like 5G, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and autonomous and electric vehicles are developed and deployed in this country, with the U.S. setting the rules of use.

“The Endless Frontier Act is the bold, bipartisan commitment needed to advance America’s global leadership position. In addition to creating the National Science and Technology Foundation, the bill would invest in the discovery and application of new technologies in key areas and strengthen America’s critical supply chains, such as semiconductors. It would also create ten regional tech hubs across the country that focus on emerging tech. These hubs would spur innovation and expand opportunities to communities outside of the traditional tech centers. It would serve as a lifeline to the future of the American economy, prepare the U.S. workforce to compete globally, and create high-skilled, good-paying American jobs across the country.

“We thank Majority Leader Schumer, Senator Young, and Representatives Khanna and Gallagher for their commitment to investing in innovation, increasing opportunities for all Americans, and strengthening U.S. leadership globally. We look forward to working closely with both parties in Congress to pass this important legislation.”
