Joanie Deutsch serves as TechNet’s Executive Director for Washington and the Northwest. Based in Seattle, she oversees TechNet’s expanding state advocacy and political activities in Washington State, Illinois, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, and manages issue advocacy, government affairs, events, policy analysis, political fundraising, membership relations, coalition building, and media relations. Prior to TechNet, Joanie served as the Director of Government Affairs at the Washington Retail Association where she was responsible for developing all legislative policy papers, overseeing necessary research to develop positions, and working with members and legislators to advance the organization’s agenda. Before joining the Washington Retail Association she was the Public Affairs Director for Strategies 360, a Washington State-based firm that provides outstanding services in government relations and lobbying, strategic communications, public policy, social media, and research. Joanie has also served on the communications team in the Office of the Washington Secretary of State and later as a policy analyst in the Elections Division. She worked with reporters, legislators, and decision makers on topics ranging from incorporation filings and public records to election results and litigation. Joanie is a native of the Tri-Cities in Washington and a graduate of Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Washington, where she majored in Political Science.
