Uber launched several initiatives to help Maui residents, including a $1 million commitment to the Hawai’i Community Foundation, free rides to and from shelters, and financial support for drivers.
Verizon restored network coverage in West Maui, bringing service back to all areas that were covered before the wildfires.
Lyft is providing access to critical resources to help residents in Maui and Oahu, including offering free and discounted rides to help residents move to designated shelters.
Sunrun partnered with relief organizations to create mobile power units to support basic electrical and communication needs in Maui.
Amazon worked with local and national community groups to set up temporary communications infrastructure to provide internet and phone connectivity across impacted sites, donated needed supplies to residents in need, and offered financial support to organizations that provide immediate assistance.

Comcast’s new Storm-Ready WiFi device is designed to maintain connectivity when a storm hits, trees are down, or a customer experiences a local outage. The device is equipped with cellular backup and a four-hour rechargeable battery. When the power goes out, the customer’s network is automatically transitioned to cellular back-up so they can continue the use of the Internet.
