Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today released the following statement, attributed to President and CEO Linda Moore, following passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in the U.S. Senate:
“The NDAA is critical legislation that addresses emerging threats, strengthens our global competitiveness, and helps keep our nation, and those who defend it, safe. Technology plays a critical role in achieving our economic and national security objectives.
“The U.S. must be the global leader in the investment, development, and deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure it is implemented responsibly across the world. This year’s NDAA includes provisions that will strengthen our leadership in AI and other emerging technologies, including quantum computing.
“The NDAA will also bolster our cybersecurity defenses to better protect our nation’s critical infrastructure and safeguard our economy, secure critical supply chains, and increase our research and development capabilities to help ensure the U.S. wins the next era of innovation.
“We applaud the Senate for passing the NDAA and urge the House of Representatives to follow suit quickly.”
