Washington, D.C. — TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore today issued the following statement regarding H.R. 2474, the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, passing the U.S. House of Representatives:
“The ABC test included in this legislation is a one-size-fits-all approach that would open the door to unintended consequences for workers in the on-demand economy because of the test’s rigidity and complexities. While there are differences between how the ABC test in this legislation and the one in the new California law are applied, we have already seen how policies of this nature negatively impact workers who rely on flexible work to support themselves and their families. TechNet and our members welcome the opportunity to collaborate with legislators on a modern-day solution that ensures on-demand workers can access benefits while maintaining their ability to work when and where it is best for their schedule.”
