Boston, MA — TechNet Executive Director for Massachusetts Christina Fisher today issued the following statement in response to a proposed fee increase on rideshare users that was included in Governor Charlie Baker’s fiscal 2021 budget proposal:
“We are concerned and disappointed that Governor Baker is proposing to increase the tax on rideshare riders by five times the current amount. Residents and visitors across the Commonwealth rely on apps like Lyft and Uber to get around, but this increased tax threatens the affordability and access of these vital services. We urge the Governor to reconsider.”
