Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, welcomed the results from the Biden Administration’s semiconductor supply chain request for information and efforts to address current shortages and boost domestic supply chains. The following statement can be attributed to TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore:
“Technology has powered America during the pandemic and semiconductors are essential to the devices that have discovered and distributed vaccines and treatments, enabled telework and facilitated remote learning, and kept us safe, connected, and informed. As demand for semiconductor-enabled technology continues to grow, the need to increase the supply of chips is urgent.
“We applaud President Biden, Secretary Raimondo, and the Administration for their efforts to address the shortage. As the report notes, the private sector is best positioned to address the near-term challenges posed by the current shortage. Long-term solutions to bolster the chip supply will require the partnership of the private sector and U.S. government.
“We join the Administration in calling on Congress to pass robust funding for the CHIPS Act as soon as possible to increase chip production, fortify supply chains, and drive our economy forward.”
In November, TechNet submitted comments in response to the Administration’s request for information.
