Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today released the following statement from TechNet’s Executive Vice President Carl Holshouser in response to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s announcement of a new federal Autonomous Vehicle (AV) framework:

“TechNet applauds Secretary Duffy and the Trump administration for establishing a new federal AV framework to encourage innovation and boost the safe development and deployment of American AV technology. TechNet represents many of the country’s leading AV companies and has long advocated for a single national performance-based framework that ensures a safety-first approach and enables AV innovation.

“AV technology has the potential to redefine mobility and commerce in America by making transportation safer and more accessible, boosting supply chains, creating thousands of new jobs, and driving cost-saving efficiencies throughout the U.S. economy. However, recent federal government inaction has placed U.S. leadership in autonomous vehicles at risk. The Trump administration’s new policy is a major step in the right direction. We look forward to working with Secretary Duffy and the Department of Transportation to advance American leadership in AVs.”
