Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, released the following statement on the nomination of Jessica Rosenworcel to lead the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) following her hearing today with the Senate Commerce Committee. The following can be attributed to Linda Moore, TechNet President and CEO.

“The pandemic laid bare the digital divide facing too many Americans. During her time leading the FCC in an acting role, Rosenworcel championed expanding broadband access and securing reliable internet access for every American across the country. She is a vocal advocate for ensuring all students, no matter their background or location, have the ability to go online and access the information needed to reach their potential.

“The tech industry is committed to promoting an inclusive workforce and Rosenworcel would become the first woman confirmed as FCC Chair. We encourage Senators from both parties to swiftly approve her nomination so she can begin working to close the digital divide and expand broadband across the U.S.”

Earlier this month, TechNet applauded the passage of the bipartisan infrastructure bill that commits $65 billion to expand broadband access across the country.
