Washington, D.C. — TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today issued a statement ahead of President Trump’s State of the Union address. The following statement can be attributed to Linda Moore, President and CEO of TechNet:
“We must remain hopeful that this new era of divided government still allows us to get things done. We urge Congress and the President to work in a bipartisan manner to pass a modernized trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, pressure China to change its trade practices without hurting American workers, better prepare today’s students for the jobs of tomorrow while helping adults update their skill sets so they can seize opportunities in a changing economy.
“Congress and the President must find a way to break the stalemate over immigration in a way that enhances our security, protects American workers, and remains true to our heritage as a nation of immigrants. This way, the U.S. can continue benefitting from welcoming the world’s best and brightest minds here legally to innovate alongside Americans to create more opportunities for everyone.”
