Washington, D.C. — TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore today issued the following statement after Congressional Democrats and the Trump Administration announced a bipartisan agreement on the United States-Canada-Mexico Agreement (USMCA):
“The USMCA will bring our trade policies with Mexico and Canada, our top two trading partners, into the 21st century. Given technology’s vast impact on businesses of all sizes across all sectors of the U.S. economy, we are pleased the agreement includes a digital trade chapter and other reforms that will enhance cross border commerce and technology standards between our countries.
“We thank the Trump Administration, Speaker Pelosi, and all Members of Congress who worked in good faith to achieve this major bipartisan deal and look forward to its final passage in Congress.”
Earlier this month, Moore penned an op-ed on Fox Business in support of the USMCA. TechNet has been actively engaged on USMCA since submitting official comments to USTR on June 12, 2017 highlighting the tech industry’s priorities as the Administration began considering its negotiating principles.
