Sacramento – TechNet,
the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives,
today issued the following statement in response to new proposed regulations on
autonomous vehicles (AV) released by the California Department of Motor Vehicles
(DMV). The following can be attributed to
Andrea Deveau, Vice President, State Policy and Politics, at TechNet.

“The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) today
released proposed regulations that would establish a path for testing and
future deployment of fully autonomous vehicles.
The finalization of these regulations will open the door to driverless
autonomous vehicles in California, and we applaud the DMV for their effort.

Self-driving vehicles have enormous potential — in terms
of making our roads safer; enabling mobility for seniors, the disabled, and
other Americans; and improving the efficiency of vehicles, which will help
alleviate traffic, reduce emissions, and limit costs.

TechNet looks forward to providing comments on these
proposed regulations through the formal regulatory process so that we can help
ensure that advanced vehicle technology can continue to develop.”
