Washington, D.C. — TechNet president and CEO Linda Moore today issued the following statement on legislation that would provide states with funding to create a portable benefits program for workers in the gig economy:
“This innovative approach to benefits will ensure gig workers have critical protections that they can take from job to job, while continuing to work when it is best for them. A modern benefits program is necessary now more than ever, as gig workers are essential to taking medical workers to their jobs on the frontlines of COVID-19 and keeping Americans supplied with groceries and other household staples while they stay at home. TechNet encourages Congress to include this legislation in the next relief package, and we thank Congresswoman Suzan DelBene and Senator Mark Warner for introducing it at such an important time for workers in the gig economy.”
