TechNet Concerned by Immigration Executive Order

Washington, D.C. — TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore today issued the following statement regarding President Trump's forthcoming Executive Order on immigration:

"We are very concerned about the negative impact this order would have on the U.S. economy.  We urge the Administration to ensure that any action taken does not harm ongoing efforts to respond to the coronavirus and help us restore the American economy in the short, medium, and long term.  High-skilled immigrants have been a key part of the solution to our nation’s COVID-19 response, working hand in hand with their U.S.-born colleagues to meet this challenge.  Throughout the tech industry alone, countless immigrant leaders have stepped up during this challenging time to preserve jobs, protect workers, deploy critical technologies used by all sectors, and even repurpose their workers and manufacturing facilities to help meet immediate medical needs.  Now is a time for reassuring businesses of all sizes with the certainty their workforces need to continue innovating and helping our nation overcome this unprecedented challenge."
