Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today applauded President Biden’s Executive Order calling for half of all new vehicles sold by 2030 to be zero-emission vehicles. The following statement can be attributed to Carl Holshouser, SVP, TechNet:

“We agree with President Biden when he says the future of the auto industry is electric. For years, the technology industry has been a leader in building a clean energy future. Tech’s bold actions and commitment to fighting climate change have led to numerous innovations that are helping our environment, including electric vehicles.

“We applaud today’s actions by President Biden and his administration for recognizing the positive impact electric vehicles have on our environment and our economy. The President’s pledge to invest in the infrastructure, manufacturing, and deployment of electric vehicles and a national charging network will spur innovation, create new, good-paying jobs, boost our economy, improve our climate, and help strengthen American competitiveness. But more can be done.

“While today’s announcement is a great first step, we need Congress to take immediate action to help ensure our communities are cleaner and more efficient. That begins by quickly passing the bipartisan infrastructure package that invests billions in electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This is critical to building a more sustainable future. We look forward to working with the President, his administration, and Congress to make it happen.”
