Washington, D.C. – TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of innovation economy CEOs and senior executives, today issued the following statement, attributed to TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore, after the Senate passed the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act(NDAA):

“The need to protect user data and privacy and bolster U.S. cybersecurity defenses has never been greater. Cyberattacks are not only becoming more common, up 67 percent since 2014, they’re increasingly becoming more sophisticated. As data continues to grow in size and value, sensitive information will be a constant security threat.

“Measures included in the NDAA will increase the U.S.’ capacity to defend against cyberattacks, strengthen our national security, and invest in cybersecurity awareness and threat prevention. Additional resources in the NDAA for the Critical Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) will also help increase resiliency across the federal government and better enable agencies to analyze and respond to cyber threats.

“We applaud Congress for taking the necessary steps to enhance our nation’s security efforts and boost our capabilities in combating cyberattacks. We urge President Biden to sign the NDAA into law immediately.”
