Washington, D.C. — TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore made the following statement regarding implementation of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA):

“The USMCA is a rare, bipartisan triumph, but the real winners today as the agreement is implemented are American consumers and employees. More than 12 million U.S. jobs are supported by trade, and having an agreement with our top two trading partners that reflects today’s economy with a first-of-its-kind digital trade chapter is long overdue.

Technology plays an increasingly critical role in our global economy, especially as we combat a pandemic that has impacted us all. We applaud the leaders in Congress, as well as the administration, who worked to get this agreement enacted. It will foster increased trade and job creation for years to come.”

TechNet has been a vocal supporter of USMCA since submitting official comments to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) on June 12, 2017, highlighting the tech industry’s priorities as the Administration began considering its negotiating principles. In 2019, Moore penned an op-ed in support of the USMCA.
